Construction of Allpack’s flagship distribution centre has begun. The NDC, which is being developed by investor-developer Barberry, was pre-sold to Allpack in a multi-million-pound deal earlier this year. Completion of the site, headed up by construction contractor Benniman, is set for the second quarter of 2021.
Located at Kingswood Lakeside Business Park, one of the region’s key employment sites, the new national HQ will serve to facilitate Allpack’s continued growth as its national distribution centre, bringing a wealth of investment and recruitment opportunities to the area.
The company’s new Cannock base is ideally located, offering quick access to the M6 Toll, the M6, M42, A5 and the A34.
Bob Clarke, operations director at Allpack Group, commented: “We are delighted to announce our acquisition of Barberry 60 as the new headquarters for Allpack, which will allow us to continue supporting our clients nationally with the exceptional service levels that have become synonymous with the Allpack brand. 2020 has seen the ecommerce sector grow to new records and this facility will further enable us to develop and grow our business whilst continuing to service our customer needs and requirements. It has been a pleasure transacting with Barberry and we look forward to practically completing our building.”
Discussing Allpack’s acquisition of the site, Barberry development director Jon Robinson said: “We are thrilled to have agreed to sell the freehold of our high quality warehouse unit to Allpack Group before we have reached practical completion on site."
“It offers Allpack a fantastic new headquarters for their national operations as they expand and relocate from their current base in Aldridge. The successful conclusion of this deal clearly demonstrates the quality of our mid-box industrial/logistics buildings, the high specification we deliver, our experience and our flexible approach to cater for occupier requirements, while being able to offer both leasehold and freehold opportunities.”
Speaking on behalf of Barberry, Richard James-Moore, of property consultancy firm JLL, said of the deal’s completion: “We are thrilled to have negotiated this deal on behalf of Barberry. The building specification, together with the quality location and ability to acquire the freehold, created a compelling case for Allpack and we are pleased to conclude the pre-sale. We look forward to seeing Allpack take occupation of the PC’d building.”
